About the role
Ko Taku Reo is seeking a dynamic Regional Leader for the Central region to join the national Leadership Team of its Outreach School. The role oversees Resource Teachers of the Deaf who support over 850 DHH students across mainstream schools, providing both direct and indirect services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate six geographically dispersed teams delivering specialist services to DHH students aged 3‑21.
- Collaborate with the Head of Regional Outreach Services to align regional activities with organisational goals.
- Ensure implementation of evidence‑based, culturally responsive practices for inclusion.
- Monitor service delivery metrics for both direct (197 students) and indirect (653 students) programmes.
- Provide mentorship and professional development for resource teachers.
Required profile
- Fully registered teacher or school leader with substantial middle or senior leadership experience.
- Thorough understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and inclusion strategies for DHH learners.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a region covering Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne or Hawkes Bay.
- Preferred postgraduate qualification in Special Education (not essential).
