About the role
Ko Taku Reo is seeking a dynamic, fully‑registered teacher or school leader to serve as Regional Leader for the Central region. This full‑time, fixed‑term position (covering parental leave) will oversee a network of six geographically dispersed teams delivering services to more than 850 Deaf and Hard‑of‑Hearing (DHH) students.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Central region’s Resource Teachers of the Deaf.
- Manage direct and indirect services for DHH students aged 3‑21 in mainstream schools.
- Implement evidence‑based inclusion practices and culturally responsive approaches.
- Report to the Head of Regional Outreach Services and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- Support professional development of team members and maintain high standards of service delivery.
Required profile
- Fully registered teacher or school leader with middle‑ or senior‑level leadership experience.
- Thorough understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum.
- Demonstrated ability to work with DHH students and apply inclusive, evidence‑based practices.
- Willingness to be based in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne or Hawke’s Bay.
- Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.
