About the role

Simpson Grierson is seeking an intermediate property lawyer to join its national Real Estate Practice Group. You will work from either the Wellington or Auckland office, handling a broad range of property and infrastructure matters for both public and private sector clients across New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Manage transactions involving property development, commercial leasing, subdivisions, and acquisition/disposal of commercial assets.
• Provide research, legal opinions, and advice on complex real‑estate and infrastructure projects.
• Support senior partners and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality legal services.
• Contribute to the mentorship and development of junior solicitors.

Required profile

• 3+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in property law, either from private practice or in‑house.
• Bright, proactive, commercially minded and able to manage a busy, varied workload.
• Team‑oriented with a collaborative approach and a commitment to supporting junior colleagues.

Required skills

• Strong transactional capability in real‑estate matters.
• Excellent legal research and opinion‑writing abilities.
