Quantity Surveyor & Estimator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our Auckland CBD team, focusing on commercial fit‑outs, shopfitting, interior construction and small commercial building projects. You will work closely with project managers, clients and suppliers to deliver projects profitably and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scope requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for commercial fit‑outs, shopfitting, joinery and small commercial construction projects.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Conduct quantity take‑offs and material assessments.
• Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender process.
• Prepare value engineering and alternative pricing options where required.
• Attend tender clarification meetings and client presentations.
• Prepare and manage project budgets and cost forecasts.
• Monitor project expenditure and profitability.
• Manage procurement schedules and subcontractor packages.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in quantity surveying, estimating or commercial management within construction, shopfitting, commercial interiors or joinery.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials and procurement processes.
• Proven track record of preparing accurate tender submissions and cost plans.
• Experience managing project costs, variations and financial reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.
• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building or a related discipline (desirable).
• Experience with commercial fit‑outs, retail, hospitality or interior construction projects (desirable).
