Quality Specialist – Furniture & Hardgoods

About the role

The Warehouse Group is seeking a Quality Specialist to oversee the quality and safety of furniture, homewares and sporting goods across its Home category. Working closely with Buying, Sourcing and Design, you will ensure products meet clear specifications, comply with New Zealand safety standards and deliver the high‑quality experience customers expect.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct product assessments to verify function, reliability and identify risks or improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain accurate product specifications based on briefs from Design, Buying and Sourcing teams.
• Ensure specifications meet all applicable NZ laws, company standards and are clearly understood by overseas sourcing partners.
• Participate in QA approval processes for high‑risk products, both offshore and in‑house.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to embed quality considerations throughout the product lifecycle, from design to delivery.
• Analyse quality performance data and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement and support investigations of high return rates.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet critical deadlines.
• Technical and mechanical mindset capable of evaluating product construction, assembly methods and structural integrity.
• Self‑driven, collaborative approach and ability to work closely with buyers, suppliers and offshore sourcing teams.

Required skills

• Experience with QA/QC processes and product quality evaluation.
• Knowledge of New Zealand product safety standards.
