Quality Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the Quality function at our East Tamaki manufacturing site. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be part of the Operations Leadership team and act as the food‑safety authority for the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a strong quality perspective to plant leadership and influence site strategy.
• Lead, coach and develop a small Quality team.
• Oversee testing of raw materials, work‑in‑process and finished goods to ensure consistent product quality.
• Head New Zealand food‑safety programmes, including HACCP implementation, projects and governance.
• Implement, maintain and continuously improve local and global quality standards and FSSC 22000 requirements.
• Manage internal and external audits (site and vendor) and keep the site audit‑ready at all times.
• Partner with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality, packaging and supply issues.
• Maintain site quality systems, documentation and specifications for compliance.
• Monitor, report and drive improvement in quality performance, escalating to global teams when needed.
• Lead quality CAPEX initiatives, training programmes and capability uplift across the site.

Required profile

• Degree in food safety, food science or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role within FMCG or food manufacturing.
• Strong written and oral communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proven relationship‑building and influencing skills.
• Willingness to work with global teams, including occasional evening calls and travel.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of FSSC 22000 standards.
• Advanced HACCP management experience.
• Lead Auditing Qualification.
