Purchasing Support Coordinator

About the role

The Purchasing Support Coordinator will join Auckland Council's Procurement Department to provide high‑quality purchasing support across the organisation. You will help minimise time, cost and risk while ensuring compliance with council purchasing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Action purchasing tasks through SAP, including purchase order creation, vendor setup requests and payment processing.
• Engage and maintain positive relationships with internal customers and key stakeholders.
• Support project managers by investigating purchase order commitments and providing timely updates.
• Use purchasing system expertise to give feedback and test system upgrades as part of continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in a similar purchasing or procurement support role.
• Experience using SAP (essential).
• Passion for delivering excellent customer service.
• Strong time‑management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Familiarity with the local government sector is advantageous.
