Purchasing Coordinator

About the role

Transpower is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to support strategic procurement, grid delivery and engineering activities across New Zealand’s high‑voltage transmission network. The role involves creating and managing purchase orders, liaising with suppliers and freight forwarders, and ensuring timely delivery of critical materials for maintenance and project work.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain purchase orders in Maximo and FMIS for long‑lead items such as transformers, substation equipment, and transmission line materials.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders to keep orders moving and provide regular status updates.
• Support item coding, master data maintenance and continuous improvement of inventory and purchasing processes.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with logistics to ensure the right equipment is available for grid projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of purchasing or related industry experience.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to follow through on tasks.
• Proven communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Experience working with suppliers, logistics providers or inventory functions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Maximo purchasing system.
• Experience using FMIS or similar finance systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
