Property Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a proactive, hands‑on Property Assistant to join our team at the Summerset village in Palmerston North. In this full‑time, permanent position you will work closely with the Property Manager and Head Gardener to keep the village safe, attractive and well‑maintained for our residents.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with general property and garden maintenance tasks.
• Support building maintenance, refurbishments and minor repairs.
• Help with landscaping, gardening and ground‑care activities.
• Participate in property inspections and report safety or maintenance issues.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, team members and contractors.

Required profile

• Practical, approachable and dependable with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to take initiative and complete a variety of tasks efficiently.
• Enjoys working independently and taking pride in the environment.
• Committed to creating a people‑first atmosphere for residents.

Required skills

• Experience in property maintenance.
• Experience in gardening and ground care.
• Strong DIY or trade skills (part‑trade qualified preferred).
