Project Sponsor – Infrastructure Investment

About the role
As a Project Sponsor you will provide governance leadership and decision accountability for New Zealand’s largest transport infrastructure investments, ensuring projects stay aligned with intended outcomes and deliver value.
Key responsibilities
- Offer governance oversight and confidence across major infrastructure projects.
- Challenge assumptions, guide decision‑making and address emerging risks.
- Work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, contractors and senior stakeholders.
- Maintain disciplined oversight, visible leadership and sound judgement to keep projects achievable, affordable and outcome‑focused.
Required profile
- Proven senior infrastructure leader (e.g., Project Director, Programme Director, Senior Responsible Owner).
- Experience navigating large, complex and politically sensitive environments.
- Strong governance, assurance and commercial acumen.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders without formal authority.
- Advanced strategic and systems‑thinking capability.
