Project Manager – Water

About the role

Stantec is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Water team in New Zealand, working from either the Christchurch or Dunedin office. You will lead the delivery of complex water infrastructure projects, supporting the team’s reputation for innovative and sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of drinking‑water, wastewater, storm‑water and groundwater projects.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, contracts managers and other project managers to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Support bids and proposals, translating client briefs into actionable project plans.
• Oversee design‑build, alliancing, programme management and asset‑management activities.
• Maintain financial oversight, risk assessment and reporting throughout project execution.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of engineering or construction project management experience.
• Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure or three‑waters projects.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and financial competency.
• Ability to work directly with clients, understand briefs and deliver outcomes.
• Effective communicator who can foster team performance.
