Project Manager – Strategic Programmes Office (12‑month FTC)

About the role
The University of Auckland is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Strategic Programmes Office on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will lead high‑impact change across health education and research, coordinating a portfolio of faculty‑wide strategic initiatives that span the Faculties of Medical and Health Sciences and Science.
Key responsibilities
- Lead delivery of a major programme creating new, accessible pathways into clinical health programmes.
- Support the establishment of a new Department of Cancer Sciences, focusing on organisational design and transition.
- Bring senior stakeholders together to co‑design a cohesive department.
- Establish and maintain robust planning, reporting, and governance structures.
- Manage resources, risks, and dependencies to ensure timely outcomes.
- Ensure quality delivery and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing complex, multi‑stakeholder projects in an academic or research environment.
- Strong ability to influence senior leaders and drive collaborative change.
- Excellent organisational and governance skills.
- Capacity to work autonomously within a well‑supported delivery environment.
