Project Manager

About the role

The Liggins Institute at the University of Auckland is seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex genomics research programmes, including newborn genomics, cerebral palsy, and rare disorders projects. This full‑time, fixed‑term position (24 months) supports nationally impactful work that aims to improve outcomes for families affected by genetic diseases in New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and monitor multiple genomics research projects from initiation to completion.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and resources while ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
• Engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, funders, and external partners.
• Prepare progress reports, risk assessments, and documentation for project governance.
• Facilitate collaboration across interdisciplinary teams and support data management activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Highly organised, persistent and able to motivate teams to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Master’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Understanding of the clinical trial landscape is advantageous.

• Proficiency with project management software and methodologies.
