Project Manager

About the role

This pivotal position sits within a government department responsible for the stewardship of a large property portfolio and the delivery of asset renewal projects. You will lead project delivery, overseeing funding, change control, and risk and issue management to ensure outcomes are on time, within scope and budget.

Key responsibilities

• Provide delivery leadership for assigned asset renewal projects.
• Manage project funding, change control processes, and risk/issue registers.
• Ensure projects meet schedule, scope, and budget targets.
• Maintain effective internal and external delivery relationships.
• Oversee procurement, negotiation, and contract management activities.
• Apply sound financial control and management throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven project management experience in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Experience with national asset management strategies and knowledge of IIMM.
• Ability to communicate complex issues to a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership.
• Strong analytical skills, particularly with the SPM database.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of legislation related to property development and building standards.
• Sound judgement, organisational awareness and political sensitivity.
