Project Manager – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Higgins Wellington is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the bidding and delivery of infrastructure projects within the Te Awa Kairangi Alliance. The role is responsible for ensuring high‑quality, safe and commercially successful outcomes while fostering strong relationships with clients, partners and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of projects from tendering through to completion.
• Support tender preparation and pricing to produce competitive, high‑quality submissions.
• Build and maintain client relationships and identify future work opportunities.
• Oversee day‑to‑day delivery, ensuring projects meet or exceed specifications.
• Coordinate teams, subcontractors, plant and suppliers to keep projects on schedule.
• Manage project financials, reporting and cost‑to‑complete.
• Administer project documentation including RFIs, variations and invoicing.
• Promote a strong safety, environmental and quality culture on site.
• Lead risk management and proactively address issues and mitigations.
• Collaborate with Alliance partners and procurement on subcontractor performance.
• Plan and forecast workforce resourcing requirements.
• Continuously improve productivity, methodologies and outcomes.

Required profile

• Engineering Diploma or Degree (essential).
• Significant civil engineering experience delivering complex infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of NZS 3910 and the Construction Contracts Act.
• Proven leadership ability to build and motivate high‑performing teams.
• Strong commercial acumen including cost control, forecasting and reporting.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and problem‑solving skills.
