Project Manager – Enabling Services

About the role

The Treasury is seeking a motivated Project Manager to join its Enabling Services team. You will lead IT projects that improve the efficiency of public services across New Zealand, working closely with senior officials and central agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Scope, plan and deliver IT projects that streamline business processes.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and change‑control procedures.
• Lead project teams, manage risks and issues, and ensure clear stakeholder communication.
• Oversee handover of deliverables to IT operations and conduct post‑implementation reviews.
• Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing IT projects from inception to delivery.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset with experience motivating project teams.
• Eligibility to obtain a New Zealand Government security clearance.
