Project Manager – Electricity Distribution

About the role

We are seeking a capable and motivated Project Manager with a technical background to own electricity distribution projects from inception through commissioning and close‑out. The role offers variety, technical depth, and the chance to work across multiple networks and customer standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
• Produce accurate estimates, quotes and manage project finances.
• Conduct thorough design and pricing reviews after handover from estimating.
• Create detailed work packs for field staff and plan resources efficiently.
• Scope and coordinate materials and contract resources.
• Maintain strong customer liaison and stakeholder engagement.
• Support field crews across LV/HV networks, including industrial clients.
• Manage outage planning, project close‑out, financial reconciliation and documentation.
• Identify risks early, solve problems quickly and ensure clear communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, National Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4 or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of project management or technical experience in a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of LV and HV distribution networks and zone substations.
• Understanding of New Zealand electricity industry standards and safety legislation.
• Financial literacy and ability to manage project budgets.
• Proven ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
