Project Manager – Civil Construction

About the role

Join a well‑established, family‑owned civil contractor in Canterbury as a Project Manager. You will lead a variety of civil, commercial and wastewater projects from planning through to handover, balancing on‑site presence with office‑based coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple civil, commercial and wastewater projects across Canterbury.
• Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets and regular reporting.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and on‑site teams to ensure safe, on‑time delivery.
• Monitor project performance, identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Support a collaborative team culture within a growing business.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering civil construction projects, preferably in infrastructure, earthworks or wastewater.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related field.
• Strong site‑based leadership with the ability to lead from the front.
• Excellent planning, programming and project control capabilities.
• Self‑motivated, adaptable and able to thrive in a close‑knit team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with project management software.
• Strong computer literacy for reporting and data analysis.
