Project Finance Lawyer

About the role

This position offers the opportunity to work on some of New Zealand's most significant infrastructure, renewable energy and property finance transactions. You will join a high‑performing legal team and contribute to complex project finance matters across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on all aspects of project finance transactions in infrastructure, renewable energy, construction and property sectors.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex financing agreements and related documentation for large‑scale, cross‑border projects.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers and partners to provide strategic advice on debt capital markets, financial regulation and corporate finance.
• Support clients through the full lifecycle of deals, from structuring to financial close.
• Conduct thorough due diligence on project documents and counterparties, identifying risks and proposing practical solutions.

Required profile

• LLB with a minimum of 4 years post‑qualification experience in Banking & Finance Law, obtained at a reputable firm.
• Demonstrated expertise advising on project finance transactions involving infrastructure or renewable energy.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Strong critical‑thinking and sound judgement when handling multifaceted legal issues under tight deadlines.
