Project Engineer – Transport Infrastructure

About the role

Ventia is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join its Transport Infrastructure team in New Zealand. The role involves supporting the delivery of road maintenance, renewals, capital works and other infrastructure improvement projects across the transport network.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver transport infrastructure projects from planning through to completion.
• Develop and manage project programmes, budgets and resource plans.
• Monitor project performance, costs, risks and quality outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Prepare project documentation, reports and client communications.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet project requirements.
• Support procurement activities, including quotations, tenders and contract administration.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and operational teams.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably within transport, roading or civil infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies and contract management.
• Commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NZTA/Waka Kotahi standards and transport infrastructure projects.
• Ability to develop and manage project programmes, budgets and resource plans.
• Experience monitoring project performance, costs, risks and quality.
