Project Engineer – Stormwater (Ō2NL Highway Project)

About the role

Downer is seeking a Project Engineer – Stormwater to join the Ō2NL South Alliance delivering the Ōtaki to North of Levin highway project in the Horowhenua District. You will lead the delivery of stormwater drainage works, ensuring they are completed safely, on time and to the alliance’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the construction of drainage infrastructure, including pipes, culverts, manholes and treatment systems.
• Provide technical leadership and coordinate subcontractors throughout the construction phase.
• Integrate design and construction activities to maintain alignment with project schedules and health & safety objectives.
• Prepare and review inspection and test plans (ITPs) and ensure compliance with quality and environmental controls.
• Track project costs, variations and schedule performance.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years experience in civil infrastructure, specifically drainage, stormwater or three‑waters projects.
• Proven experience in site‑based delivery, project coordination and subcontractor management.
• Experience with inspection and test plans, quality assurance and environmental compliance.
