Project Engineer – Manufacturing & CAPEX

About the role

The a2 Milk Company is looking for a hands‑on Project Engineer to lead CAPEX and process‑improvement projects at our Pokeno manufacturing site. You will be responsible for taking projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring they deliver safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead medium to large‑scale CAPEX projects from concept development to operational handover.
• Prepare business cases, project plans, budgets and timelines.
• Manage project governance, contractor performance, risk management and stakeholder communication.
• Identify and implement process improvements that boost efficiency, productivity and plant performance.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and ensure compliance with food safety, quality, regulatory and engineering standards.
• Conduct project risk assessments, safety reviews and contractor management activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs and engineering records.

Required profile

• Proactive engineer with a passion for manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement.
• Experience delivering CAPEX or continuous‑improvement projects in a regulated manufacturing environment (dairy, food, FMCG, etc.).
• Strong project‑management capabilities, including planning, budgeting and stakeholder engagement.
• Understanding of food safety, quality systems and health‑and‑safety requirements.
