Project Engineer – Invercargill

About the role

Fulton Hogan is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join its Invercargill team on a major heavy‑industrial project. You will be responsible for delivering civil and structural works in a live industrial environment, coordinating multiple trades and ensuring safe, compliant progress.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day engineering delivery across structural concrete, drainage and structural steel packages.
• Coordinate construction activities with supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support planning, sequencing and short‑term programming in a busy live site.
• Manage quality documentation, including ITPs, QA records, inspections and as‑built reporting.
• Monitor safety, environmental and quality performance and intervene early when needed.
• Assist with cost control, productivity tracking and progress reporting alongside the Project Manager.
• Foster strong on‑site relationships and contribute to a flat, collaborative team culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Project Engineer level on civil or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple trades in a fast‑paced, live industrial setting.
• Practical, organised and low‑ego attitude with a focus on delivery.
• Preferably based in Invercargill, but flexible candidates from Christchurch or Dunedin are considered.
• Mining environment experience is a plus.
