About the role
This position sits within a large central government agency and works closely with project managers and senior stakeholders. The Project Accountant provides trusted financial advice, insight and oversight throughout the lifecycle of complex projects.
Key responsibilities
- Support projects from a financial perspective, including budgeting, forecasting and cost‑to‑completion analysis.
- Prepare and deliver regular financial reports, variance analysis and performance dashboards for project teams.
- Present clear financial insights to aid decision‑making and ensure projects deliver value.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes and reporting tools.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of financial policies and procedures.
Required profile
- Proven accounting experience within a large, complex organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and report financial performance in a project environment.
- Experience providing financial advice on forecasting and cost‑to‑completion.
- Strong capability to produce clear, insightful financial reporting for project teams.
