Programme Office Lead – Build a PMO for Enterprise Transformation

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Programme Office Lead to establish a brand‑new PMO for a major enterprise transformation within a leading Auckland‑based financial services organisation. You will work closely with senior executives and programme leaders to design and implement the governance, planning and delivery framework that will drive the programme’s success.

Key responsibilities

• Set up a green‑field PMO, defining operating rhythms, governance structures and decision‑making processes.
• Integrate scheduling, dependency management, RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and change control across multiple workstreams.
• Produce executive‑level communications, dashboards and decision papers that are concise and impactful.
• Track benefits realisation, baselines, financial accountability and overall programme performance.
• Challenge, unblock and escalate issues early while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• 8–12+ years delivering large‑scale programmes or transformation initiatives across multiple workstreams.
• Proven experience establishing a PMO from scratch, not just reporting.
• Strong governance and control expertise, with a commercial mindset.
• Experience in the financial services sector or other regulated industries is strongly preferred.
• Comfortable using PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint/Teams and planning tools such as MS Project or Smartsheet.
• Relevant certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, SAFe) are a plus.
