Programme & Assistant Manager – Early Childhood Care (Lower Hutt)

About the role

sKids is looking for enthusiastic leaders to run its out‑of‑school care programmes in Lower Hutt. The positions include a Fixed‑Term Programme Manager (maternity cover) and several Assistant Programme Manager roles, each offering flexible part‑time hours.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a variety of activities such as arts & crafts, sports, cooking and creative play.
• Supervise children before and after school, ensuring safety, wellbeing and enjoyment.
• Use positive behaviour guidance to support children with diverse needs.
• Build strong relationships with parents, caregivers and school staff.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, from set‑up to pack‑down, and guide team members to maintain high‑quality programmes.

Required profile

• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
• Reliable transport to Boulcott and Newlands sites.
• Availability from 2:30 pm on weekdays (essential).
• Positive, energetic attitude and a passion for working with children.
• Leadership or supervisory experience for manager roles; at least 20 years old for all positions.

Required skills

• Experience in childcare, education, coaching, camps or similar settings.
• Ability to work with groups of children and manage small teams.
