Professional Teaching Fellow – Data Science

About the role

The Department of Statistics at the University of Auckland is seeking a Professional Teaching Fellow in Data Science. This full‑time permanent position will involve developing and delivering high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate statistics courses with a strong emphasis on data science.

Key responsibilities

• Design, organise and teach large‑scale first‑year statistics courses.
• Deliver in‑person short courses on Data Science at partner universities in China.
• Innovate teaching methods and incorporate new technologies to enhance student engagement.
• Prepare and maintain up‑to‑date course materials and assessments.

Required profile

• PhD (awarded or expected soon) in Statistics or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of postgraduate‑level statistics.
• Proven track record in teaching applied statistics and data‑science related topics.

Required skills

• R programming language.
