Production Planner

About the role

As a member of the Production Planning team at Silver Fern Farms, you will create and maintain forward‑looking production schedules that align demand, livestock availability, and site capacity. The role is based in our Dunedin hub and requires close collaboration with livestock planning, sales, and site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and continuously update forward production plans across multiple sites.
• Balance customer demand with livestock supply and processing capability.
• Monitor plan execution, adjust schedules in response to changing inputs, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate delivery risks, ensuring service levels are met.
• Optimize plans to maximise value per animal while reducing waste and costly re‑work such as air‑freight.

Required profile

• Commercially minded planner comfortable in fast‑moving, complex environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate options using quantitative and qualitative data.
• Proven experience in production or supply planning, preferably in a multi‑site operation.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt quickly.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Data analysis and reporting capabilities.
