Production Manager – Manufacturing Site Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Production Manager to lead our new manufacturing operation in Pokeno. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, you will own day‑to‑day plant leadership, covering safety, production performance, quality, and team development. This hands‑on role balances floor presence with data‑driven decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Project‑manage the start‑up and ongoing operation of the site.
• Lead, coach and develop the production team, building future capability.
• Champion a safety‑first culture, handling investigations and corrective actions.
• Optimise production efficiency, resourcing and service delivery to meet demand.
• Maintain GMP, housekeeping and quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce waste, downtime and cost.
• Provide accurate, timely operational reporting.

Required profile

• At least five years of solid leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lift team performance through coaching.
• Strong problem‑solving, planning and decision‑making skills.
• Commercial awareness and high personal accountability.
• Demonstrated commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.

Required skills

• Plastics manufacturing, fabrication or sub‑assembly experience (preferred).
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Electrical aptitude.
• Project management experience, especially in growth or start‑up settings.
• Forklift endorsement or willingness to obtain one.
• Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) knowledge.
