Principal Consultant - Snowflake

About the role

Datacom is hiring a Principal Consultant for its Data & Analytics team, a client-focused role that combines technical delivery with shaping client solutions and supporting pre-sales engagements. The position is based in Wellington, though it is open to Datacom offices and a hybrid setup of three days a week in the office. It is a full-time, permanent position open to New Zealand citizens and residents, with security clearances desirable.

Key responsibilities

• Work with sales and account teams to shape proposals and solution designs during pre-sales engagements.
• Lead client presentations and solution walkthroughs, and identify upsell opportunities in existing accounts.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops to clarify business requirements.
• Lead the technical architecture, design and delivery of new modern data platform solutions.
• Provide thought leadership on data analytics, integration recommendations and the use of AI in data platforms.
• Perform performance tuning, optimisation and feature audits on data platform solutions.
• Deliver documentation, end-user training and knowledge transfer to clients and internal teams.
• Mentor developers and act as subject matter expert on data platform and warehouse architectures and data modelling.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8+ years' experience in EDW design and implementation, ETL architecting and design, and data modelling.
• Minimum 5+ years in semantic layer development, 3+ years in Power BI architectures, and 3+ years in pre-sales solutioning and client presentations.
• Ability to engage senior stakeholders, strong client management and commercial acumen.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS and GCP.
• Data platforms: Fabric, Snowflake and Databricks.
• ETL/ELT tools: Synapse Analytics, Fabric Data Factory, Snowflake, Coalesce, Fivetran, Matillion, dbt and AWS Glue.
• Data modelling: ER, dimensional, object-oriented, NoSQL and Data Vault.
• Python development in modern data platforms.
• Informatica IDMC or on-premise solutions.
