Principal Consultant - Azure Cloud & DevOps

About the role

LAB3 is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead Azure Cloud and DevOps engagements for its Professional Services team. The role is remote‑first and open to candidates residing anywhere in New Zealand or Australia. You will design, deliver and oversee complex Azure solutions while mentoring junior staff and driving practice excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical client engagements, including Azure assessments, solution design and implementation.
• Architect and deliver Azure IaaS/PaaS/SaaS solutions using Terraform, ARM/Bicep, and IaC best practices.
• Build proof‑of‑concept prototypes and run workshops to demonstrate cloud adoption pathways.
• Provide cost estimations, insights and reporting to clients.
• Participate in hiring, interview and mentorship activities for new team members.
• Influence governance, processes and documentation within the practice.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in solution design, architecture and hands‑on delivery within Azure and DevOps environments.
• Previous consulting experience with external stakeholders, preferably in Microsoft or cloud‑automation organisations.
• Willingness to continuously learn, up‑skill and coach others.
• Full working rights in Australia or New Zealand.
