Principal Architect - Enterprise

About the role

Kiwibank is seeking a Principal Architect to lead the Enterprise Systems portfolio. You will shape strategic direction, create roadmaps, and ensure solutions are secure, aligned with business goals, and delivered pragmatically.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leaders across HR, Risk, Operations, Finance and IT Service Management to translate business needs into architectural guidance.
• Develop and maintain enterprise systems roadmaps that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to Solution Architects, driving high‑quality design and delivery.
• Define pragmatic architecture patterns, standards and guardrails that accelerate delivery while managing risk.
• Contribute to technology governance and clearly communicate the rationale behind architectural decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise systems and solution architecture across core domains such as HR, Finance, Risk, Legal, Operations and Technology.
• Strong background with Microsoft Office 365 and ServiceNow platforms, focusing on capability, extensibility and integration.
• Experience designing AI‑enabled and automated solutions to improve decision‑making and efficiency.
• Hands‑on experience delivering cloud‑based solutions in regulated financial services, adhering to frameworks such as NIST and the Privacy Act.
• Pragmatic “just enough” architecture approach with clear, fit‑for‑purpose artefacts.
