Pre-Construction Manager – Electrical Estimating & Design

About the role

Aotea Electric Auckland is seeking a Pre‑Construction Manager to lead its pre‑construction team, delivering electrical estimating and design‑and‑build solutions for large commercial projects. This senior position will become part of the senior leadership team, shaping the company’s future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of competitive and negotiated tenders, ensuring alignment with scope, client expectations, and delivery capabilities.
• Act as the primary client contact during the pre‑construction phase.
• Engage with consultants, architects, and subcontractors to resolve design and tender queries early.
• Manage the design component of all design‑and‑build submissions from concept through to final client sign‑off.
• Contribute to proposals and presentations for major bids and client briefings.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator or Project Manager on large‑scale commercial projects.
• Ability to oversee projects from inception to completion, managing timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to inspire teams and convey technical information to non‑experts.
• Understanding of relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours when project demands arise.
