Practice Manager - Construction & Infrastructure

About the role

This newly created position sits at the heart of the Construction & Infrastructure division of a leading New Zealand law firm. As Practice Manager you will shape the function, set standards and drive efficiencies, leveraging technology and AI to improve how the division operates.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and manage a practice management team.
• Act as the primary point of contact for division leaders and partners, handling diaries, billing, reporting and related administrative tasks.
• Drive continuous improvement in legal support delivery and operational processes.
• Build strong relationships with Business Services and other firm functions.
• Champion division culture, cohesion and day‑to‑day rhythm.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of PA or legal secretarial experience, including exposure to senior stakeholders.
• At least 3 years working in a legal environment with an understanding of its pace and expectations.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with complex billing and matter‑tracking systems.
• Calm under pressure, high quality standards and proven people‑leadership capability.
• Enthusiasm for technology and emerging AI tools.

Required skills

• Experience with Elite 3E (legal practice management software).
