Power Supply Electrical Trades Person

About the role

We are seeking a safety‑focused Electrical Tradesperson to maintain and improve critical power‑supply assets at our Tiwai Point operation in Southland, New Zealand. The role offers a balanced lifestyle roster and the chance to work within a structured maintenance framework for a leading global mining company.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on high‑voltage electrical assets.
• Identify defects, raise notifications via the RTBS system and complete work orders.
• Capture asset performance feedback and support defect‑elimination initiatives.
• Follow work‑management processes and job instructions to ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Respond to unplanned events to minimise power‑supply disruption.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams on sustaining improvements.
• Maintain high‑voltage operating and safety competencies.

Required profile

• Commitment to personal and team safety.
• Current (or eligible) electrical practising licence.
• Experience with electrical systems, preferably in high‑voltage environments.
• Strong problem‑solving and fault‑troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication and collaborative working style.
• Proactive attitude toward maintenance and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance of high‑voltage assets.
• High‑voltage (HV) system knowledge.
• Use of RTBS (real‑time business system) for defect reporting.
• Fault troubleshooting.
