Pool Lifeguard

About the role

Join the Napier City Council team as a Pool Lifeguard at Ocean Spa on Marine Parade. You will work outdoors, stay active, and play a vital role in keeping the community safe while they enjoy the aquatic facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise aquatic activities and ensure the safety of all visitors.
• Maintain life‑saving skills and be ready to respond to emergencies.
• Perform water‑quality testing and monitor pool operations.
• Keep facilities clean, well‑stocked, and in good condition.
• Engage with the community, clubs and organisations to promote a positive environment.

Required profile

• Experience in a customer‑service setting.
• High level of personal fitness for manual handling and standing/walking.
• Strong swimmer able to pass swim testing and maintain fitness for rescues.
• Friendly, team‑player attitude.

Required skills

• National Pool Lifeguard Certificate (desirable).
• First Aid certification (desirable).
• Water‑quality testing.

• Permanent full‑time role (40 hours per week) on a rostered basis.
• Hourly rate $27.04‑$28.19 depending on experience.
