People Technology and Systems Lead

About the role

The People Technology and Systems Lead will shape and deliver Kāinga Ora’s people‑technology strategy, ensuring that HR, finance and enterprise systems work together seamlessly. Based in Wellington or Auckland, this permanent role reports to the Manager, People Systems & Intelligence and focuses on integrating data, improving system usability and applying AI and automation responsibly.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve people‑related systems such as HRIS and finance system interfaces.
• Lead integration projects that connect HR, finance and enterprise platforms, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Apply AI and automation tools to reduce administrative burden and support data‑driven decision‑making.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Digital, Data & Analytics, Legal, Privacy, Risk and Information teams.
• Establish governance frameworks for ethical AI use and maintain user‑friendly experiences.

Required profile

• Proven ability to translate emerging technologies, including AI and automation, into practical business applications.
• Strong understanding of best practices in people technology, HRIS, and finance system integration.
• Experience delivering technology‑enabled transformation with measurable outcomes.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work across multiple functional areas.
