Payroll Specialist Lead

About the role
Remote is looking for a Payroll Specialist Lead to join its Global Payroll Operations team. The role is fully remote, based in Australia, and will drive end‑to‑end payroll processing for international employees while ensuring compliance and data quality.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the subject‑matter expert for payroll in the assigned country.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders in Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product and Engineering.
- Process full end‑to‑end payroll, including statutory filings, exceptions, approvals, payments and compliance.
- Maintain data integrity, produce payroll journals and perform reconciliations.
- Monitor and achieve KPIs and SLAs, and continuously improve payroll processes.
- Mentor junior payroll specialists and provide backup for regional managers when needed.
Required profile
- Proven experience in end‑to‑end payroll processing, either in‑house or via a payroll service provider.
- Strong knowledge of payroll best practices and statutory requirements.
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, asynchronous, international environment.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, etc.).
