Parks Labourer – Landscape Maintenance

About the role

The Parks Labourer (Parks Landscaper) joins Hamilton City Council’s Community Group to maintain and enhance the city’s parks, playgrounds, sporting facilities and other public spaces. Your work will directly support the wellbeing of residents and contribute to Hamilton’s reputation as a vibrant, livable city.

Key responsibilities

• Perform safety and general maintenance tasks across parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities.
• Ensure all work meets high standards of safety, quality and visual presentation.
• Collaborate with external contractors and the wider Parks and Recreation team.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
• Engage with the public in a friendly, professional manner and address facility‑user needs.
• Manage litter, rubbish and ground debris to keep spaces clean.

Required skills

• Current NZ full driver’s licence – Class 2.
• Current first‑aid certification.
• Experience in parks maintenance and general handyperson tasks.
• Physical fitness to handle manual work demands.
