About the role

The Pae Tukutuku role at the Māori Land Court in Hamilton safeguards the Court’s historic record, ensuring it remains a reliable resource for whānau, hapū and decision‑makers. This permanent, full‑time position blends customer service, information management, research, and courtroom support to help deliver timely, high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide information and guidance on Court processes, legislation and Māori land matters.
  • Research Court records, analyse evidence and support case progression.
  • Prepare high‑quality reports, submissions and recommendations for the Court.
  • Maintain accurate data in Pātaka Whenua, ensuring exceptional record integrity.
  • Monitor applications to ensure timely progression.
  • Record and transcribe Court proceedings with precision.
  • Clerk Court hearings and deliver judicial support services.
  • Preserve the authenticity, quality and integrity of the Court record.
  • Potentially serve as Deputy Registrar, exercising delegated statutory powers.

Required profile

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical ability to research, interpret and evaluate information.
  • Sound judgement and confidence in making evidence‑based decisions.
  • Focus on data quality, information integrity and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Customer‑focused approach with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Understanding of legislation, policy and complex information.
  • Willingness to deepen knowledge of Ngā Kaupapa Māori.
