Organizational Development Director

About the role

ZURU is scaling rapidly and needs a strong Organizational Development leader to build the foundational HR frameworks that will support future growth. Based in Auckland, you will transition OD from a China‑only function to a global capability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own ZURU’s first competency framework, linking capability to career pathways, job levelling, architecture and pay bands.
• Develop organisational structure recommendations, including spans of control and layers, that can scale with the business.
• Partner with leaders across all functions to create clear career pathways and embed ZURU’s DNA into every framework.
• Lead the shift of OD from a China‑centric Centre of Excellence to a global model, setting strategy and standards from Auckland.
• Assess global execution capability and define the resourcing model needed to deliver frameworks at ZURU’s pace.
• Collaborate with the Global Head of People & Culture and Training Specialist to translate growth plans into practical tools for people leaders.
• Integrate AI fluency into the competency framework and use AI to accelerate benchmarking, drafting and data analysis.
• Execute the build‑and‑deliver process, ensuring frameworks go live within the first year.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering HR frameworks, competency models, career pathways or job architecture at a senior level.
• Track record of scaling organisational design in fast‑growing, global companies.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business growth into practical HR solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior leaders across regions.
