Oncology Nurse – Cancer Treatment Specialist

About the role

The Bowen Icon Cancer Centre in Wellington is seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse to join its purpose‑driven team. You will work in a modern seven‑chair day unit delivering chemotherapy and other systemic anti‑cancer treatments while providing compassionate, evidence‑based care to patients and their whānau throughout the treatment journey.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Administer systemic anti‑cancer therapies and supportive treatments safely and confidently.
• Collaborate with nursing leaders and the wider healthcare team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients, whānau and colleagues.
• Participate in quality‑improvement activities and uphold national standards.
• Support clinical trial treatment delivery and contribute to a patient‑centred culture.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and holding a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience in medical/surgical inpatient, palliative, or high‑acuity nursing.
• Commitment to cultural safety and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
