On-Call IT Support Engineer – Timaru, NZ

About the role

EIL Global is seeking experienced IT Support Engineers to provide on‑call, freelance, onsite assistance for a client in Timaru, South Canterbury. You will work independently, delivering prompt desktop and network support to maintain high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver onsite desktop support, diagnosing hardware and software issues.
• Perform Windows operating system installations, upgrades, and re‑imaging.
• Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
• Execute basic LAN/WAN network troubleshooting.
• Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, and other network devices.
• Respond to service requests quickly while documenting all activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in IT support, desktop support, or field services.
• Strong hands‑on experience with desktop hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of networking concepts (LAN, WAN, routers, switches).
• Experience with OS deployment, imaging, and break‑fix support.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple onsite assignments.
