Occupational Therapist (Rehab / Older Adult) - Coastal North Island

About the role

A small community hospital in the coastal North Island of New Zealand is looking for an energetic, efficient and motivated Occupational Therapist to join its inpatient Allied Health team, working in rehabilitation with older adults. The hospital provides maternity, medical, mental health, surgical and psychogeriatric services, with no emergency services. This is a permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Work with a caseload of approximately 15 patients on a ward focused on rehabilitation for older adults admitted with a variety of injuries and medical conditions.
• May also be required to provide support on the orthopaedic and neuro-rehabilitation ward when needed.

Required profile

• NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with a current APC.
• Experience in the hospital inpatient setting; a minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant area is preferred.
• An appreciation of inter-professional practice (top of scope, skill sharing and delegation), or a willingness to learn to work this way.
• An understanding of the health needs of Māori and Pacific communities, and an eagerness to reduce inequities and improve health outcomes.
• Current full driver's licence.
• Willingness to enable accreditation (or to attain it).
