Network Communications Specialist – Real Time

About the role

The Network Communications Specialist – Real Time will ensure that customers receive clear, timely information about changes or disruptions across Auckland’s transport network. Working within the Auckland Transport Operations Centre, you will coordinate real‑time communications across multiple platforms to help passengers navigate the system confidently.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver real‑time communications for incidents and emergencies via social media, the AT Mobile App, NZTA Journey Planner and other channels.
• Monitor transport network status and coordinate messaging to maintain consistent external communication.
• Work rostered shifts covering 5:30 am–9:00 pm, including weekends, to provide 24/7 coverage.
• Collaborate with the Network Communications team and incident management partners to align messaging.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in communications, engagement, journalism or marketing.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, journalism or business.
• Demonstrated willingness to develop an understanding of Te Ao Māori.
• Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) training is desirable.
