About the role
ALS is seeking a Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join its modern Food & Pharmaceutical laboratory in Hamilton. You will support daily operations by preparing and analysing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform advanced microbiology tests and analytical procedures following standard operating protocols.
- Prepare and analyse samples using techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography and PCR.
- Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments, performing routine maintenance.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to procedures, equipment and materials.
- Collect, interpret and analyse data to identify trends and support reporting.
- Assist in developing and validating new testing methods.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety and client turnaround‑time requirements.
Required profile
- Laboratory certificate or science qualification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Commitment to laboratory safety and daily housekeeping.
- Good communication, organisational skills and a team‑oriented attitude.
