Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Lecturer

About the role

Wigan & Leigh College is seeking a full‑time Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Lecturer to deliver Level 3‑6 programmes. You will combine theory with hands‑on practice, ensuring students gain the precision, safety and employability skills demanded by industry.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons across mechanical and electrical engineering modules.
• Mark assessments, provide constructive feedback and use results to tailor future teaching.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance and assessments.
• Act as a Personal Tutor, offering pastoral support and guidance on next steps.
• Participate in open evenings, school liaison activities and departmental initiatives.
• Stay current with subject developments and best teaching practices.

Required profile

• Degree or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or equivalent) – can be achieved during probation.
• Teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one with college support.
• Up‑to‑date subject knowledge and confidence using IT and e‑learning tools.
• Enhanced DBS check (completed by the college if successful).
