Marketing & Communications Advisor (Fixed‑term)

About the role

Join the Communications Team within the Office of the Chief Executive at Stats NZ as a Marketing & Communications Advisor. This full‑time, fixed‑term position (until August 2027) focuses on internal and organisational communications, helping staff understand and connect with the agency’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver clear, fit‑for‑purpose communications for a range of internal audiences.
• Create stories, articles, newsletters, intranet content and digital channel material.
• Produce communications plans that support key organisational priorities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and subject‑matter experts across the organisation.
• Support change initiatives through targeted internal messaging.

Required profile

• Strong writing, editing and oral communication skills.
• Interest or experience in internal and organisational communications.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, public relations or journalism.
• Excellent relationship‑building and collaboration abilities.
• Customer‑service focus, sound judgement and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Experience using intranet platforms.
• Website content management system (CMS) proficiency.
• Newsletter creation and distribution.
• Social media platform management.
• Basic video production or editing capability.
