Mandarin & English-Speaking Customer Experience and Tour Guide

About the role

We are looking for a bilingual Mandarin‑English guide to deliver memorable visitor experiences at the Dark Sky Project in the Mackenzie District. You will welcome guests, share astronomy and cultural stories, and ensure a seamless journey across all touchpoints.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging guided tours and customer interactions in both Mandarin and English.
• Welcome and host visitors, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
• Explain astronomy concepts and Ngāi Tahu cultural narratives in an accessible way.
• Assist with bookings, enquiries, and retail operations.
• Support the overall visitor journey to maintain world‑class service standards.

Required profile

• Fluent in Mandarin and English (essential).
• Confident public speaker comfortable with group settings.
• Experience in customer service, tourism, retail or hospitality.
• Positive, energetic attitude with a genuine passion for people.
• Willingness to learn astronomy and Ngāi Tahu values.
