Manager – Personal Banking Non-Financial Risk

About the role

The Manager – Personal Banking NFR will lead first‑line non‑financial risk management for ANZ's New Zealand Personal Banking division. You will partner with business teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across daily operations, projects, and change initiatives, ensuring strong risk culture and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Support end‑to‑end non‑financial risk management, including risk identification, control effectiveness, governance and reporting.
• Partner with business teams to provide risk advice for routine activities, projects and change initiatives.
• Manage risk‑in‑change, events and issues, conducting root‑cause analysis and capturing lessons learned.
• Facilitate top‑down and bottom‑up risk identification across the Personal NZ business.
• Prepare risk analysis, insights and thematic reporting for governance forums and senior decision‑making.
• Review control design and effectiveness, identify gaps, and support remediation planning and delivery.
• Collaborate with the NFR Hub and Risk Theme Centres of Excellence to deliver business‑specific risk assessments.
• Contribute to capability uplift and risk culture development across the organisation.

Required profile

• Foundational knowledge of core non‑financial risk concepts, including risk assessment, control design, operating effectiveness, change assessment, and event/issue management.
• Experience working in a banking or financial services environment, preferably within personal banking.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on practical risk insight.
• Ability to communicate risk information clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
